A Techi Note: How to recover "Notes" from iPhone/iPad Backup

Apple updated the iPad iOS, which from some obscure reason resulted in deleting all my notes.  Of course the moment i synced with the computer the notes were deleted from the computer as well, and subsequently also from my iPhone. Just horrible!!

Since it was so complicated to retrieve them, I thought I would share the process:

Step 1: Download iPhone Backup Extractor (this one: http://supercrazyawesome.com/), and SQLlite Database Browser (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Developer-Tools/SQLite-Database-Browser.shtml).

Step 2: Launch iPhone Backup Extractor click on the "Read Backups" button to automatically access the stored backups on your hard drive.   Choose "iOS Files" and click on the "Extract" button.  select a target folder to place extracted files

Step 3: Once the extraction is done, launch SQLlite Database Browser and navigate to the TARGET_FOLDER/iOS Files/Library. Here you will find a folder called Notes with two files: notes.idx, notes.sqlite.  Select "notes.sqlite".

Step 4: Select the "Browse Data" Tab, and from the dropdown menu select "ZNOTEBODY".  You will see a table, and under the column ZCONTENT is the content of each note.  If you double click it, you can export each note to a text file, or copy and paste the content to a different location.

Good luck!
